Anaerobic Bio-Methanation of Sugar Processing Plant Waste Water
|
ICM/Phoenix
provided a pre-fabricated Anaerobic Bio-Methanation system at ALI in San Juan.
The system was designed and skid-mounted at the ICM, Inc. fabrication
shop in Colwich, KS, then shipped as a complete unit to San Juan for piping and
480v electrical hook-up.
The
system was designed for 700 pounds per day of Chemical Oxygen Demand removal,
therefore, it could be skid-mounted as a package treatment unit.
Tankage is polyethylene and piping PVC and polyethylene, while system
pumps are stainless steel centrifugal. The
system fit the plants' limited waste water treatment budget and has been on line
and operating satisfactorily since 1996.
Routine
COD reduction is well in excess of 90%, which keeps the plant within compliance
limits of the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA).
COD loading has varied to as high as 1,500 pounds per day without
significant plant upset. The plant requires less than one hour per day of operator
attention. Phoenix Bio-Systems personnel provided all training and start-up services along with operations and maintenance manuals.
