Biological Waste Water Treatability and System Development PBS maintain a 2400 sq. ft. Test Laboratory Facility to assess the treatability of industrial waste water streams in Anaerobic and Aerobic microbial treatment Systems. The Phoenix laboratory in Colwich maintains several small scale (5 and ten liter) continuous and semi-continuous Bio-treatment systems. Phoenix uses these test Bio-reactors to assess the treatability of wastewaters from industrial plants around the world. This method of assessment is considered superior to normal bench measurement systems for true treatability assessment. The micro-scale continuous reactors have proven capable of providing design parameters for scale up while providing superior long term testing of operational stability and upset response prediction. In addition, the Phoenix lab is used to develop technical improvements in Bio-treatment systems. Research at the Phoenix laboratory has resulted in the successful development of high rate anaerobic systems as well as denitrifying and aerobic treatment systems. New technologies from the lab have been scaled to successful full scale wastewater treatment systems in a number of industrial plants.
